Ook de volgende regel verwijst er naar: 'Those who died, are justified, for wearing your badge they're the chosen whites', waarbij mensen van de overheid ('wearing a badge') in verband worden gebracht met 'chosen whites', verwijzend naar de blanke mannen in witte kleding van de KKK. Het nummer eindigt met de zin "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me", dat 16 keer wordt herhaald, eindigend in de uitroep 'Motherfucker!'. In de versies die radiostations draaien wordt deze zin vaak niet gedraaid vanwege de woorden 'fuck' en 'motherfucker'. Stworzyła nietypowy crossover, który szybko się przyjął wśród innych zespołów. "Killing In The Name'" - utwór z tej płyty, stał się klasykiem. Płyta odniosła ogromny sukces i może dlatego zespół postanowił milczeć aż tak długo - zawsze był niepokorny i zbuntowany. Płyta "Evil Empire" pojawiła się w 1996 roku i była bardziej zwarta brzmieniowo od debiutu. No, ale Zack nie urodził się w Polsce, ani w CCCP, ani na Kubie. Ma prawo nie mieć świadomości niebezpieczeństwa, jakie niesie ze sobą rewolucja. Jednak walka w muzyce przynosi pozytywne efekty - płyta RATM jest tego świadectwem. Nie jest to łatwy materiał, przyswaja się go po kilkakrotnym przesłuchaniu. Nie jest to eksperymentalna płyta, jest to typowy RATM - na pewno starzy fani tej kapeli będą usatysfakcjonowani. Mnie jednak na tej płycie podoba się najbardziej nie kontynuacja brzmienia, ale partie gitarowe Toma Morello. Stosuje eksperymentalne motywy gitarowe, które wprowadzają niezwykłe pasaże do muzyki RATM. Tak jest w utworze "Voice of The Voiceless", w którym Morello gra niczym Robert Fripp z King Crimson. "Sleep Now In The Fire" rozpoczyna się jak numer Steve'a Ray'a Vaughana, bardzo rhytm'n'bluesowo. Ogólnie można odnieść wrażenie, że muzyka na płycie "The Battle of Los Angeles" jest nastawiona na uwypuklenie różnorodnych partii gitary. Może to niewyrobionego odbiorcę ciężkiej muzy trochę denerwować, ale wszak nie jest to płyta przeznaczona dla laików. W "Ashes In The Fall" Morello gra niezwykle psychodelicznie, niczym Jimi Hendrix, często używając "kaczki". Najbardziej melodyjnymi uworami z nowej płyty są rozpoczynający ją "Testify" i singlowy "Guerilla Radio", który zawiera proste, ale fantastyczne riffy. Ogólnie muzykę RATM zdominował duch psychodelicznego hard rocka, aż dziw bierze, że u schyłku wieku można taką inspirację pokazać w energetycznej formie. Do tego Brad Wilk gra w stylu Bonhama z Led Zeppelin. Gdyby nie rapowy śpiew, bardzo rwący, wściekły, Zacka De La Rocha można by sądzić, że to gra kolejny przedstawiciel stoner rocka.
